Bona Fide Shameless Plug

After what amounts to some three years of delays, 'Glimpse of the Abyss' should be showing up in stores this month. It's a sourcebook for the 'Feng Shui' RPG, from Atlas Games, featuring some of my writing, and if you're a fan of 'Feng Shui' (which might very well be, as 90% of my published work has been for FS), I'd suggest you buy it, as the publishers will be looking at 'Glimpse of the Abyss' as a barometer of the popularity of the line.

If that's not enough, it has flying heads, zombie bikers, demon kung-fu masters, eunuch sorcerers, and a little something I nicknamed "Corpse Factories". Oh, and killer nuns. Oh, yes, and I promise you'll never look at a dodo the same way again.

Could you do some commentary or analysis on Sleepwalker?

(A little off-topic, but I'll answer...)

I'd love to do commentary on Sleepwalker, but the problem is, I don't really have enough of the series to be able to. Marvel would need to collect the series in a trade paperback (preferably an 'Essential Sleepwalker' volume, since those provide about 15-20 issues to look at in a single book), and they haven't done that yet. (Probably because "90s nostalgia" hasn't really caught on in the way "70s nostalgia" has. I mean, I'm still waiting for my 'Power Pack' collection.)

So it's something I'll do someday, but Marvel has to lay the groundwork. So, y'know, write to them demanding a 'Sleepwalker' collection. :)

Just out of curiousity, what did you think of the series? I personally think it's vastly underrated, and I really hate the notion of Sleepy being considered a "second-stringer" or a "B-lister" who couldn't take on threats that the supposedly big guys could.

That might be an interesting topic in and of itself-isn't the whole notion of A-list and B-list heroes kind of absurd when applied to heroes? I mean, I doubt most people would care if it was Superman or Shining Knight that saved their kid from a burning building.

I didn't even know Feng Shui was still going. I remember being really intriqued by the game when it first came out but lacked the resources to really know what to do with it.

If it's been published all this time, maybe someone's already made some resources for me.

Oh, and about Sleepwalker, I say that series won me over by virtue of having a unique-looking protagonist with (semi-)original powers and a great hook that involved him only being active when what's-his-name was asleep. Add in some of the best new villains to hit Marvel that decade (8-Ball? The Chain Gang? Bookworm?) and you have a series that gave me something new on a monthly basis. It was so much better than the recycled heroes and villains in the other titles.
