What It's Like To Be An American Right Now

It's like when you're in the last reel of a horror movie, and the surviving characters have almost made it back out of the house with the zombie psycho-killer in it, and you're trying to figure out if they're going to go for the uplifting ending, where they escape into a glorious sunrise of a bright tomorrow, or if the door's going to slam shut on them at the last second and they're going to be trapped in the darkness for another four years.

Er, I mean...another night of terror.

God, I can't wait for the election to come around. I can't stand the suspense much longer.

Indeed. It's only September, and the suspense is already killing me.

Will America come to its senses, finally? Please oh please oh please...

You know about stories and story engines, right? What about the story of the plucky, righteous folk hero who stands up for herself and what she believes in, and becomes the hero of the city of light, ushering in a new christian age for all while chasing down the demonic forces of evil that would tempt us from our chosen path as saviors of the world?

The GOP has done a pretty effective job of framing her this way, even though she is a ruthless, cunning politician with a spotty record.

We live in a country where GW was elected TWICE. I want to hope and believe but...

"Game over man...game over..."

Er, I mean...another night of terror"

I'm reading this in 2014, six years later.

We escaped the darkness -- and discovered it could follow us out of the house.

Six years of terror, led by a weak-willed King Arthur with delusions that his opposition will listen to reason, a shining leader whose knights are all loyal to the darkness of Ebenezer Scrooge and Ayn Rand instead of to him -- and the darkness is winning because it has learned how to libel and slander the light while the light has learned nothing about it and simply gapes helplessly in surprise at every crime it commits, giving it time to commit more.

THE SOUTHERN STRATEGY REIGNS SUPREME in the United States.

And Simon LeGree has found himself welcomed with open arms by the Greed Over Principles party as the chief overseer of their privatized prisons.
