Fun Fact!

"You know, in certain older civilized cultures, when men failed as entirely as you have, they would throw themselves on their swords," from the movie 'Serenity', is a great thing to say to someone right after they tell a joke that bombs.

"You are a sad, strange little man and you have my pity," from 'Toy Story', also works, but is gender-specific.

Umm... John, I hate to point it out but the first quote is fairly gender specific too.

That said - AWESOME quote choices.

Well, technically speaking you can say it to a woman--it makes reference to men, but it doesn't directly call the subject a man.

You are, in essence, suggesting that in these modern days of gender equality, women can't claim discrimination in the important arena of throwing themselves on their swords after a complete failure.

Absolutely... we women are discriminated against all the damn time. The number of times I've had my sword taken away from me just as I was about to hurl myself on it due the enormity of my failure...
;o)

And you should see the gender discrimination that happens on the netball court during mixed gender games. I feel so sorry for the guys. :o)
